Scottish debut as Pelléas in new production by David McVicar

Following his Bolshoi Opera debut as Count Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro, Andrei Bondarenko now makes his Scottish Opera debut headlining Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande. Directed by David McVicar, with whom Andrei worked last season in another production of Le nozze di Figaro at Opera Australia, the production will also feature the work of design team Rae Smith and Paule Constable, of the multi-award winning play War Horse.

The Ukrainian baritone headlines Debussy’s hypnotic work opposite Carolyn Sampson as Melisande. Scottish Opera Music Director Stuart Stratford conducts the performances, which take place February 23 through March 11 in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
